THRDC National Coordinator, Advocate Onsemo Olengurumwa, joined other 33 organizations under the Weaving Resilience Initiative supported by the Ford Foundation in Rio De Janairo -Brazil on 16 and 17 April 2024. The aim was to foster a sense of community and mutual learning amongst practitioners in the Global South, who are working in over 30 countries to support human rights defenders (HRDs), civil society organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) in their regions.
Key Focus Areas:
✔ Sharing insights and progress across the initiative's hubs globally.
✔ Crafting joint initiatives and actionable plans.
✔ Discussing the long-term sustainability of these hubs.
✔ Enhancing leadership and governance structures.
THRDC is a party to the East African Protection Hub including the Kenyan HRDs Coalition, Uganda HRDs Coalition and Defend Defenders. This partnership is fortifying support for Human Rights Defenders in East Africa by enhancing protection, building capacity, and advocating for their crucial roles.
