Stakeholders in children’s rights from various African countries are convening at the 43rd Session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) in Maseru, Lesotho, from April 15th to 25th, 2024.
The main theme of this conference is to bring together stakeholders, including representatives from governments, human rights commissions, civil society organizations, human rights experts, scholars, researchers, and development partners, to discuss various issues regarding children’s rights in Africa.
Representing THRDC at the conference, Ms. Perpetua Senkoro, Coordinator of the Defenders with Disabilities Initiative commended the ACERWC for issuing a report in 2016 containing recommendations on the rights of children with albinism in Tanzania.
Furthermore, Ms. Senkoro highlighted challenges faced by children with albinism when separated from their families and provided recommendations for addressing these challenges.
