We are glad to share that, our National Coordinator for THRDC, Adv.Onesmo Olengurumwa participated in the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Network 7th Focal Point  Meeting held in Kampala, Uganda, in previous few days.

The program intended to strengthen the work of Human Rights Defenders in the East and Horn sub-region by reducing HRDs vulnerability to the risk of persecution and enhancing their capacity to effectively defend human rights.

The meeting for the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (EHAHRD-Net) brought together Focal Point representatives of EHAHRD-Net from the twelve countries in the East and Horn of Africa sub region.

These biennial Focal Point meetings have proved to be important platforms for sharing information, best practices, and forging a way forward for the protection of human rights defenders in the sub-region.

The meeting managed to review the plan of action for EHAHRD-Net based on the current situation in the sub-region and provided a way forward.

This fruitful dialogue has objectively addressed the followings.

Created a platform for focal points to network and discuss emerging cross–cutting trends, issues, challenges identified, and the way forward for the sub-region.

 Improved collaboration between the focal points and the Secretariat.

Provided a strategic direction for the EHAHRD-Net for 2026–2031

We extremely thank the @defenddefenders Secretariet for their commitment and readiness to entiling a considerable participation of THRDC in this worthwhile meeting.
