The meeting brought together representatives from 14 member organizations of CoRI in Tanzania, including the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT), Twaweza, Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC), MISA-Tan, International Media Support (IMS), and others. The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on the operationalization of key CoRI documents that will guide the coalition’s work from 2025 to 2028. These documents include the Strategic Plan, Communication Strategy, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), all of which are expected to be finalized and formally endorsed through signing.

Key priorities for the year 2025 were also discussed. These include safety management training for journalists ahead of the upcoming general elections, engagement with government and stakeholders to foster an enabling environment for access to information, and the implementation of national and regional court decisions related to freedom of expression, access to information, and human rights more broadly.

As part of the resolutions, the participants formed a special committee tasked with finalizing the key documents for endorsement. Adv. Paul Kisabo was appointed as one of the committee members, with Saumu Mwalimu (MCT), Annastazia Rugaba (Twaweza), and Fausta Musokwa (International Media Support).
