EVALUATION OF THE 2015 CSOs ELECTION MANIFESTO AND DEVELOPING A NEW ELECTION MANIFESTO FOR THE 2019/20 ELECTIONS
Today on 5th July 2019, the Tanzania Human Rights Defenders’ Coalition (THRDC) convened a CSOs’ dialogue at Kisenga – LAPF building; to Evaluate and analyze the 2015 CSOs Election manifesto but also began drafting a new CSOs Election manifesto that will work for 2019’s Local Government elections and the 2020 General election. This dialogue was led by Mr. Deus Kibamba (Executive Director – Tanzania Citizens Information Bureau), Ms. Martina Kabisama (Executive Director – SAHRiNGON), Mr. Onesmo Olengurumwa (National Coordinator – THRDC) and Mr. Israel Ilunde ( Executive Director – YPC and Chairman – Ushiriki Tanzania).
Also, among other invited guests from outside the Civil Society, were Politicians; Humprey Polepole – CCM’s Secretary of Ideology and Publicity and Zitto Kabwe – Member of Parliament and ACT-Wazalendo party leader.
The joint development of the 2019/20 CSOs Election Manifesto by representatives from different CSOs Thematic groups from across Tanzania, is still underway. The final document of this new manifesto is to be finalized in August and presented for validation at a later date before being launched.
